Our drywall tapers, also known as drywall finishers, know a lot about hanging drywall, but they also know how to take the necessary steps to ensure a perfect finish. Drywall professionals use the following five levels of finishing. Homeowners can choose what level of finish they would like after the drywall is hung. Some areas like crawl spaces or garages don’t require the same level of finishing as you would your living room.

• Level 1 - Embed a specialized drywall joint tape in the joint compound or mud. This will create a sealed joint and prevent water and other debris from entering the wall.

• Level 4 - Apply a third coat of joint compound to the tape and screws. Sand once dry. This is the step to stop when you plan to paint or wallpaper because it allows for a smooth and seamless finish.
• Level 5 - This is the highest finish level and is typically completed with the application of a skim coat. This is typically reserved for commercial applications.
